Neko Babul

 Neko Babul is a Papua New Guinean professional with a diverse career spanning public service, aviation, agriculture, and community leadership. 


Career and Education


Babul earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) between 1975 and 1979.   After graduation, he worked as a research officer for the 2000 National Population Census.   In 1982, he joined Air Niugini as an Assistant Purchasing and Supply Manager.  His tenure included an 18-month training attachment with Qantas Airways in Sydney from 1988 to mid-1989.  He progressed through various roles, eventually acting as Purchasing and Supply Manager until his departure in 1999.  


Community Engagement and Leadership


Beyond his corporate career, Babul is deeply involved in community development.  He serves as Chairman of the Board for Lae Wampar Resources, a landowner company in Morobe Province.   Additionally, he is the Chairman at Munum village in Morobe, where he focuses on reengineering initiatives to help people achieve their full potential.  


Advocacy and Personal Projects


Babul is an advocate for agricultural self-sufficiency in Papua New Guinea.  He and his late wife, Haiveta Babul, initiated a rice cultivation project on their land to promote local production and reduce reliance on imports.   He has also shared personal reflections and experiences through writings, including stories about his time in New Caledonia.

Babul maintains an active presence on social media, sharing insights and experiences on platforms like Instagram and Facebook.   


Through his multifaceted career and community involvement, Neko Babul has made significant contributions to various sectors in Papua New Guinea.
